It's Been Busy

June was a crazy month for us. The kids and I did VBS the 2nd week of June. I helped teach one of the Pre-K classes and had a blast. My daughter enjoyed the week a lot. Her favorite parts were recreation and music. My son was not sold on the idea of VBS. He tolerated the first two days, protested the next two and was too tired to care on the last day. He was going through a phase and didn't want me to leave him. His teachers were wonderful and I think he had fun in spite of himself.

My aunt visited the week of VBS and the following week. I got to give her and her daughter of tour of my Alma mater while they were here. The kids and I also hit the mall one day with them. They live in a small town out west, so they enjoyed shopping in the city.

The kids and I had a week breather before my brother-in-law, Kevin, and my sister-in-law, Brenna, came to visit. The kids and I managed to take two meals to two families in our Sunday school class during our breather. One family had a baby and the other family had a member recovering from major surgery. I also finished a quilt for Jason's cousin Shawn's new baby. Here it is:

I also made skirts for my daughter and I. She loves the idea of being a twin. Since she doesn't have a sister to dress like her, I made her a skirt to match mine. I used the instructions found at Deannastuff . It was a good tutorial. Here are the skirts:

We had a great time with Kevin and Brenna. Brenna's Mother and Grandmother live a few hours south of me, so Brenna and I made a quick road trip. We got pedis while we were there...wonderful. It was a treat I seldom allow myself. We also did some shopping and went to church on Sunday.

While we were gone, our sweet husbands took the kids bay fishing. They had a blast! Here they are riding out to the fishing spot:

My daughter decided to give my son some advice on how to catch the biggest fish.

After their fishing trip, they took a quick trip to the Gulf for a swim. When Brenna and I returned on Sunday we had grilled fish. Although the kids caught the fish, they wouldn't eat it!

June was busy. July has been much quieter. I hope to get some small projects done around the house, play with the kids in the pool, scrapbook a little, and get ready for my daughter to start Kindergarten soon.
