Daddy, How Did Your Test Go Today?

This was a snippet of conversation overhead at our house on Saturday night.

Son:"Daddy...how did your test go?"

Daddy: "I think it went ok, thank you for asking B."

Son: "Daddy, when are we going to be able to swim in our pool?"

Daddy: "Very Soon"

Background--We got a pool on sale the week before my husband's test. We told both the kids we would set it up after my husband's test was finished. My son kept asking right up until the day before the test about setting it up. Then it registered...after the test. So, he had the above sweet conversation after my husband returned home from taking the test. As my husband said goodnight to my son that night he was asked, "Do you think that before we go to church we could set up our pool." I love his tenacity.

We have the pool set up now. We swam in it last night until the mosquitoes became too unbearable. We have it running a saltwater system this year. I'm excited not to have to continually check the chlorine. The saltwater filter tests every time it runs. Love it!

Summer is here!

My husband is taking a huge test this weekend. By huge, I mean he has studied for it for about 9 months, he has taken a several mock exams. We're praying for him to pass and we'll be through it!

My son recently tries to make everything into a song. He loves to make up songs about whatever he is doing. His imagination is also blossoming. He loves to pretend play with is sister. He got a toy gun the other day. He is having a good time shooting all the "bad guys" that live in our house. My daughter also makes up plays for them to act out. It is fun to watch them do their plays.

My daughter is doing the usual stuff. She finished children's choir until the fall, so we removed one thing from her schedule. We are homeschooling through the summer. At the last check, our first choice school is down to number 8 on their waiting list, we are still planning to send her to our 2nd choice school. Maybe they get to our number, 23. At the end of the summer, she is going to give a recital at our house of her Twinkle songs. She will play all six all the way through without stopping. She is looking forward to doing it.

I am working on quilting a heirloom quilt for my mother-in-law. Her mother made a quilt top, but was never able to quilt it. For my mother-in-law's birthday, I offered to quilt it. I added some borders to make it queen size. It has been quite the project. I first had to go through it seam by seam and resew where the fabrics pulled apart after being washed. Then, I had to add the borders and baste it. I have the binding left to turn and sew. I have some fabric and I hope to sew some skirts soon. I also have fabric and a plan in my head for making a purse. I'm very excited.
